Respect in Sport Training

Sask Sport, along with the support of the Government of Saskatchewan, has launched the Respect in Sport as required training for coaches in the province to help provide a safer and more respectful sporting environment for all to participate. In addition, parents are also encouraged to participate in the Respect in Sport for Parents program.

These two online training programs are provided free of charge for all users accessing the program through SRA.

Coaches & Activity Leaders

All racquetball coaches or activity leaders must complete the Respect in Sport for Activity training prior to participating in programs affiliated with and sanctioned by the Saskatchewan Racquetball Association.

The Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders program educates sport leaders, coaches, officials and participants (14-years and up) to recognize, understand and respond to issues of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination.

Once the course has been completed, a certificate verifying completion is generated. Coaches completing the Respect in Sport certification will be tracked through the Respect in Sport database and each sport will have access to this database to determine if their registered coaches have completed the course. Coaches will need to complete the course once every five years.

Parents

Parents want to do a great job supporting their kids. The Respect in Sport for Parents program provides parents with the tools to create and maintain Safe Sport environments. It empowers parents to ensure the safety and well-being of their children and encourages proper communication with officials and coaches.

The Respect in Sport for Parents program compliments the Activity Leader by reinforcing a parent’s role in their child’s activities.
