Sask Finishes off the Podium at National Team Selection Event

The second national team selection event of the 2018 / 2019 season was a tough one for Saskatchewan’s top athletes.

Tim Landeryou of Saskatoon, who typically finishes in the top three in national level competition, did not have the opportunity to advance to the semi-finals after losing to Trevor Webb of Cambridge in his quarterfinal match. Landeryou bounced back though and went on to win all subsequent matches to finish in 5th place.

Danielle Drury lost a hard fought bronze medal match in the women’s event to long time rival Michèle Morissette of Baie-Comeau. Former Saskatchewan athlete Christine Richardson finished in second place.

Athletes will have a chance to face off against each other again at the upcoming Canadian Championships being held in May.

Results from the National Team Selection Event will be used to determine teams for international competition in 2019 including the Pan Am Championships and Canada’s team for the 2019 Pan Am Games.
