Regina (February 9, 2020) – Tim Landeryou is coming home from the National Team Selection Event with a third place finish. The Saskatoon athlete played\u00a0a dominate bronze medal match against\u00a0Kurtis Cullen of\u00a0Brandon on Saturday, winning 15-4, 15-3. Landeryou went into the tournament seeded in third place.<\/p>\n

Lee Connell (Saskatoon), Tanner Prentice (Macrorie) and Ian Frattinger (Martensville) also played well. Connell had a tough loss in his quarterfinal match against Cullen, but bounced back to win the remainder of his matches to finish in 5th place. Prentice and Frattinger ended the tournament in 6th and 7th place respectively.<\/p>\n

Cassie Prentice of Macrorie was the only female Saskatchewan athlete competing in the selection event. Prentice finished in 4th place.<\/p>\n

Former Saskatchewan athlete Christine Richardson, now of Winnipeg, placed 2nd.<\/p>\n

Results from the National Team Selection Event will be used to determine teams for international competition in 2020 including the Pan Am Championships and World Championships. They will also impact nominations for Sport Canada Athlete Assistance funding.<\/p>\n

The National Team Selection Event ran concurrently with the 46th Annual Keystone Classic which offered several skill and age categories. Close to 40 players from Manitoba and Saskatchewan took part in this tournament.<\/p>\n
